Title: What Women Want … And Can They Have It?

Law Section: Barristers

Can women lawyers have it all? Do they even want it all? What does “it all” really mean? Some of the most accomplished women attorneys in Los Angeles will respond to the recent article by the well-regarded lawyer and law professor Anne-Marie Slaughter in The Atlantic entitled “Why Women Still Can’t Have It All” and the resulting firestorm of controversy among women lawyers across the country. Please join us for an informative and interactive luncheon to discuss these questions and a broad range of issues affecting women lawyers today, including topics such as whether law firms are adequately addressing the needs of women attorneys, why female partners earn so much less than male partners, what the move toward two-tiered partnership structures means for women, “the mommy track,” whether in house jobs are better for women and, if so, why?, alternative careers paths for women attorneys, whether flextime, part-time and job sharing really work, and what Marissa Mayer and her pregnancy mean for women executives. As an added bonus - this panel qualifies for the hard-to-get “elimination of bias” MCLE credit.
